Sensata Technologies and its market-leading TPMS brand Schrader is pleased to announce that Simon Smith has recently joined the company as Key Account and Business Development Manager for the new Bluetooth Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for connected bikes and e-bikes called AIRsistant. In his new role Smith will oversee the strategy and implementation of sales activities required for the successful launch and growth of the new product line.

“With his successful track record of facilitating long-term business relationships and given his wide knowledge of the bike industry, Simon is the ideal candidate to drive success for the business. I am very excited to have him lead our business development activities and identify new growth opportunities.” says Alexander Baumann, Head of Sales, EMEA Aftermarket at Sensata Technologies.

Smith comes to Sensata with 30 years of industry experience working in various positions for market-leaders like Giant, Cannondale, and the Accell Group. Prior to his role at Sensata, he worked as Key account & Business Development Manager at e-bike system start-up Amprio (part of Rheinmetall).

“I’m pleased to be part of this new growth initiative. I look forward to introducing our products to the bike market and the fast-moving world of connected E-Bikes. In the beginning, I will be focused on building a good network in the DACH region and then actively expanding to the rest of Europe.” says Smith.

AIRsistant (coming to the market in spring 2022) is the innovative Bluetooth Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for bikes and e-bikes that monitors the pressure and temperature of bicycle tyres, leading to a safer ride and more comfort for Trekking, City, Mountain and Cargo bikes. Lightweight and durable tyre pressure sensors mounted on the tyre valve monitor the air pressure and the temperature of the bicycle tyres. The sensors transmit real-time data via Bluetooth low energy technology to the existing bicycle display, a compatible bike computer or a mobile APP (iOS or Android).
